A. Victor Coonin is James F. Ruffin Chair of Art at Rhodes College in Memphis TN. He is a graduate of Oberlin and Syracuse Universities, and received his PhD at Rutgers University in 1995 with a dissertation on the sculptor Desiderio da Settignano.
Throughout his career as an art historian, he has received fellowships and grants from the Mellon, Kress, and Fullbright foundations and has served on committees for the Fullbright, National Endowment for the Humanities, and College Art Association. He has edited two books and is author of numerous articles published in notable academic journals.
